Professional Qualifications

I am a Senior Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, the BACP. This is a stringent qualification requiring evidence of extensive training and experience over a number of years supported by written work and references.

My original training was as an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor in 2001 where I gained knowledge and experience in four different theoretical models and approaches. This enables me to work with your individual needs and issues that are unique to you. Working therapeutically, with a humanistic approach, ensures I work and support you in an open process devoid of any religious influences or pre-disposed beliefs.

Throughout my 20+ years of working, as a therapist, I have completed further training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Couples and Relationships, Mindfulness and Sleep issues alongside many others workshops and conferences to extend my knowledge.

I work according to the code and ethics of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). As a member of BACP I am bound by its ethical framework for good practise in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the professional conduct procedure therein.

Professional Experience

I have a wide range of experience in therapeutic support, gained through my initial training, further professional development and my 20 years working with clients. Issues have included anxiety, mild forms of depression, panic attacks, bereavement, low self-esteem and confidence, relationship issues, post-traumatic stress, eating disorders and work related stress.

Previously I have worked with victim of crime, abuse, rape, sexual assault and domestic violence and I have also mentored women in prison. I have worked supporting both clients and staff in cancer care, disability and age related charities.

My work is on a one to one basis with individuals, for as few, or as many regular sessions you feel you need.
